2008 Alaska Statewide Salmon Forecast

Harvest of 137 million salmon predicted

On March 7th the Alaska Department of Fish and Game released its forecast for the 2008 commercial season salmon harvest. The full amount of the salmon is predicted to be approximately 137 million, which would make this years harvest the 18th largest harvest since 1960. Estimations: 672,000 Chinook, 47.1 million sockeye, 4.4 million coho, 66 million pink, and 18.7 million chum salmon.
